New Delhi: High silt content in the river waters led to the reduction of power generation at Nathpa Jhakri on Monday. Six units of the plant were shut down leading to the loss of 173 MW of power. In the Capital, one unit of the Badarpur Thermal Power Plant was also shut down and is expected to resume production by Tuesday. According to the Power Department officials, though Delhi faced a forced outage of about 460 MW, the maximum load on the system recorded as 3,552 MW was met without any inconvenience. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
