At home!: Film actor Krishna with wife Vijayanirmala participating in a function in his native village Burripalem near Tenali in Guntur district on Monday. — TENALI: Veteran hero Krishna was accorded a tumultuous welcome here on Monday as the ‘superstar’ inaugurated the A.P.K Kalyana Mandapam constructed at his native village, Burripalem. He was accompanied by Vijaya Nirmala, his wife, and G. Adiseshagiri Rao, his brother. Krishna arrived from Vijayawada and was accorded a floral welcome at the V.R.S & N.V.R College. A huge gathering of fans of Mahesh Babu, Congress workers welcomed him. He was taken to Burripalem in a huge procession wounding its way through the town’s main though fares. The last time Mr. Krishna visited his native village was in 2004. His mother Nagaratnamma lived here until she breathed her last. Addressing media persons later, the veteran actor refused to comment on the possibility of his son Mahesh Babu entering politics. ``I have come here to take part in an auspicious event. I will not comment on politics,” he quipped. The super star also refused to comment on the new political party set to be floated by Chiranjeevi. Speaking on films, Mr. Krishna said he had always favoured shooting at Burripalem if the script demands rural setting. The serene water front and the picturesque locales offer the perfect setting for stories in rural background, he said citing the earlier instances of shooting, ‘Praja Rajyam,’ `Pacchani Samsaram’, ` Burripalem Bullodu’ etc. The shooting of a new film based on a novel penned by Tenali based Bulimantha Nageswara Rao, `Vala’ would begin soon with Ms. Vijaya Nirmala producing and directing the movie, he added. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
