TKS MHSS qualifies

Theni: Theni Kammavar Sangh MHSS defeated Sri Kanniga Parameswari HSS (Kombai) by four wickets in the final of the Theni district Boost Trophy inter-school cricket tournament here on Monday. By virtue of this win Theni qualified for the inter-district tournament.

The scores (finals): At Theni: SKP HSS, Kombai 169 for four in 30 overs (Bharathi 65, Karthik 31) lost to TKS MHSS 170 for six in 28.3 overs (R. Naveen 50). At Ramanathapuram: SSAM GHSS, Thirupullani 96 in 27.5 overs (Munisamy three for 25, Azaudeen three for six) lost to GHSS, Vannangundu 97 for five in 17 overs (Vadivel 36).

Reagan’s six for 17 went in vain as Youth CC beat SDR Club ‘B’ by two runs on Monday and entered the semifinals of the Thiliban Trophy T20 cricket tournament at Tuticorin.

The scores (quarterfinals): Youth CC 87 in 17 overs (Pradeep 34, Reagan six for 17) bt SDR ‘B’ 85 in 19.1 overs.

Seconds CC 169 for four in 15 overs (Pon Maniappan 49, Ramesh 30) bt Pope’s CC 41 in 10 overs.

ASKR CC 149 for five in 20 overs (Jegan 49, Silambarasan 38, Ganesh three for 22) lost to Gavaskar CC 151 for eight in 17 overs (Vetrivel 34 not out, Pradeep 30).

VOC College (Tuticorin) beat MDT Hindu College (Tirunelveli) by 33 runs in the final to retain the title in the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University cricket tournament at Kovilpatti on Monday.

The scores: VOC College 159 for nine in 30 overs (Arulraj 50) bt MDT Hindu College 126 in 28.4 overs.

In Tiruchi, Prabhakaran netted a brace as Teppakulam Bishop Heber HSS defeated Alpha Matriculation HSS 3-0 and booked a place in the semifinal of the Soccer King Pele football tournament, conducted by Tiruchi District Football Association, here on Monday.

In another quarterfinal encounter, RSK HSS edged Zamindar HSS (Thuraiyur) 1-0. Sathish Kumar was the scorer.
