Petition against deportation order dismissed

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking quashing of a deportation order against four Bangladeshi nationals saying that “they have been living in the country through manipulations”.

Dismissing the petition filed by Razia Begum, mother of the four foreign nationals, Justice S.L. Bhayana of the Court said: “The four foreign nationals, Sheikh Hasina, Mohammed Sahid, Hatim Ali and Marjina Begum, are Bangladeshi nationals, and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Foreigners Regional Registration Office, is fully empowered under the Foreign National Act, 1946, to deport them as they are illegal migrants.”

Acting on a secret information, the Deportation Cell of the South District Police had arrested the four from the Khanpur area in December last year.

The DCP (FRRO) had ordered their deportation to their country on April 23, after hearing them and giving them ample opportunities to prove their claim of being Indian nationals by producing the relevant documents.

The DCP had held that the parents of the four nationals had migrated to India from Bangladesh in 1990s and they were able to obtain identity cards, ration cards and domicile certificates on the basis of forged documents.
