THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The functioning of all banks under the State Bank group in the State is likely to be affected on August 18 due to a national strike called by the All India State Bank Officers’ Federation. The strike is to oppose the initiatives of the government and the management of the State Bank group to merge the State Bank of Saurashtra (SBS) with the State Bank of India (SBI), the union’s State office-bearers said at a press conference here on Tuesday. They said the union would also highlight its demand that the superannuation scheme presently available to SBI employees should be extended to the employees of the associate banks also. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
