Janata Dal(S), CPI file papers

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI and the Janata Dal(S) are understood to have filed nomination papers in violation of an understanding in the LDF for election as members of the newly created Malabar Devaswom Board.

Pallipram Balan of the CPI, who represents Hosdurg in the Assembly, confirmed that he had filed nomination papers. His stand was that an understanding would have to be reached and there was time for withdrawal.

Only three seats on the nine-member body are filled through election — that of one woman member and two other members. They are to be elected by the Hindu members of the Assembly.
