“Build entrepreneurship qualities in students”

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Entrepreneurship should be a key part of professional education, Governor Surjit Singh Barnala told students and faculty at Hindustan University, which he inaugurated on Monday.

“Boasting of 100 per cent campus placements is not enough. Professional colleges and deemed universities should come out with concrete plans to build entrepreneurship qualities,” he said.

Indira Gandhi National Open University Vice-Chancellor V.N. Rajashekaran Pillai and UGC secretary R.K. Chauhan spoke. Minister T.P.M Mohideen Khan awarded a sports scholarship to a member of the State cricket team, one of 50 scholarships worth Rs. 1 lakh each. Similar merit scholarships were awarded to 50 students who had scored more than 95 per cent in Plus-Two examinations, but could not afford professional education.
