Student robs woman, caught

BANGALORE: Residents of BTM Layout on Monday night caught an MCA student who allegedly snatched a bag from a woman, and caused injuries to two persons in the melee.

Nirmal (22) allegedly threatened Jnaneshwari, a software engineer, when she was returning home in BTM Layout 2nd Stage and snatched her bag containing cash and other documents after injuring her on the hand with a blade.

When Jnaneshwari started screaming, Sunil, a car driver, chased Nirmal and caught him. Nirmal injured Sunil with the blade and escaped. When Sunil raised an alarm, passersby caught Nirmal.

They later handed over the accused to the Mico Layout police late on Monday night. The police said Nirmal, a native of Kerala, was studying in a college in Goratagere and is a resident of BTM 1st stage. Jnaneshwari and Sunil were treated in a local hospital, the police added.

Robbed

Three persons waylaid a hardware merchant V.K. Agarwal and made away with his scooter and Rs. 2 lakh near Johnny Garden in Wilson Garden police station limits on Monday night. The scooter was later found abandoned on Siddaiah Road.

According to the police, Agarwal who closed his shop on Wilson Garden 4th Cross was returning home when the three persons on a motorcycle, rammed their vehicle into Agarwal’s scooter. They picked up a quarrel and assaulted Agarwal. The miscreants went away with the scooter which had Rs. 2 lakh. Agarwal was taken to a private hospital for treatment.

The Wilson Garden police are searching for the miscreants.
