NEW DELHI: A woman-son duo and their woman accomplice have been arrested by the Narcotics Branch of the Delhi Police for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking. The police claim to have seized over 10 kg of opium from them. Acting on a tip-off that a woman named Santosh had been supplying opium in the Capital and nearby areas, the police laid a trap and arrested her and her son Rishi when they were allegedly handing over a consignment of opium to a woman, Gurmeet Kaur, near Bhalswa Dairy. During interrogation, Santosh purportedly disclosed that her family migrated to Delhi from Punjab in 1984. Her husband Pooran Chand then started procuring opium from Rajasthan. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
