Four ULFA militants killed in two encounters

Guwahati: Four United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) militants were killed in two encounters with security forces in two districts of lower Assam, while another militant was apprehended in Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday, police said.

Two militants were gunned down at Sanyasin Pathar in Bongaigaon district in a joint operation by the Army and police.

The two were moving around in a suspicious manner on a bicycle. When the patrolling forces asked them to stop, they lobbed a grenade at the security personnel. The patrolling force retaliated, killing the two. Police recovered a pistol and a grenade from them. — PTI
