Water released to Sagar canals

Nagarjunasagar (GUNTUR DT.): Water was released to Nagarjunasagar Project ayacut under Right and Left Canals by Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Wednesday.

Heavy rain in Maharashtra have brought 3 lakh cusecs of water inflows into Srisailam Reservoir, which helped the Irrigation Department to release 2,000 cusecs of water into each main canal on the Right and Left bank. The initial outflow was 500 cusecs, but was slowly increased to 2,000 cusecs on Wednesday. At the formal release Minister for Infrastructure and Ports Mopidevi Venkata Ramana and Macherla MLA Pinneli Lakshma Reddy were present.

Minister for Irrigation said that the situation would be reviewed after two days by ascertaining the zone-wise demand and monitoring water inflow position into NSP reservoir and release into both the canals increased up to 12,000 cusecs.
