Tributes to Harkishan Singh Surjeet

BANGALORE: Leaders coming from various parties paid rich tributes today to the departed leader from the Communist Party of India-Marxist Harkishan Singh Surjeet in the city on Wednesday. They hailed Mr. Surjeet as a statesman with a vision for India.

In a condolence meeting organised by the CPI(M), Congress leader C.K. Jaffer Sherief said he was yet to see a politician who was so well versed with the problems faced by the poor. He said on many occasions in his life as a parliamentarian, he had suggested long lasting solutions for various problems of the country, including eradication of poverty and unemployment.

Leader of JD(S) Suresh Babu said Mr. Surjeet was concerned about the degeneration of politics.

Farmers’ leader Puttannaiah, State Secretariat member of the CPI (M) G.N. Nagaraj, leader of the DSS Mavalli Shankar, CPI State secretariat member Siddanagouda Patil, former MLA of CPI(M) G.V. Sriram Reddy, and G.R. Shivashankar leader of Forward Bloc and State Secretary of CPI(M) V.J.K. Nair paid tributes to Mr. Surjeet.
