Sabhareesh and Pooja triumph

CHENNAI: M. Sabhareesh (Hindu SSS) and S. Pooja (SBOA) took the under-8 titles in the Chennai District rapid chess championship held here recently. In all, 125 players took part in the championship.

Manoj scalps five

D. Manoj’s five-wicket haul propelled YSCA XI to a three-wicket win over Sutherland Global Services in the semifinals of the SSI-YSCA Trophy tournament here on Sunday.

In the final, YSCA will meet Amedia Consultants, which beat Ashok Leyland Ennore.

Sutherland Global Services 119 in 27.2 overs (D. Manoj five for 27) lost to YSCA XI 123 for seven in 27.2 overs.

Amedia Consultants 156 for five in 30 overs (K.R. Anbuselvan 70, G. Sivanandan 49) bt Ashok Leyland Ennore 129 in 26.2 overs (G. Ravichandran five for 29).
