Couple run over by crane

BANGALORE: A 35-year-old sales manager and his wife were killed when they were run over by a crane on Kalyananagar Main Road near Banaswadi on Wednesday.

The police said that Anand, a sales manager in a biscuit company, was riding his scooter with his wife Jyothi (30) on pillion.

He was on his way to drop her at a call centre in Babusabpalya where she was working, and thence to his office on Mysore Road, the police said.

A crane moving by the side of the scooter hit the scooter and even as Anand and Jyothi fell off it, they were run over by the crane, killing them instantaneously. The driver of the crane fled the spot.

The couple is survived by two children.
