Mamata adamant on sit-in at Singur

Special Correspondent

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee said here on Thursday that her party is determined to go ahead with its call for indefinite sit-in from August 24 outside the Tata Motors project site at Singur until land that she alleges was acquired from peasants without their consent is returned.

‘No right to stop’

“None has the right to stop a democratic movement,” she said, referring to moves by the State government to disallow any attempt to disrupt peace at Singur.

The State authorities have warned of strong action against anyone who resorts to violence and hampers work at the automobile manufacturing plant site there. No procession will be allowed in front of the entry point to the project site.
