Disappointing, says CITU

BANGALORE: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions has said the Cabinet approval of the Pay Commission’s recommendations “is totally inadequate, disappointing and discriminatory towards lower-level employees.”

CITU president M.K. Pandhe said the adoption of the recommendations would widen the disparities between minimum and maximum pay scales. The government had failed to concede to the unions demand that the gap between lower level employees and higher officers be reduced.

Dr. Pandhe said even if the Commission had adopted the formula of the previous one, the minimum pay would have amounted to Rs. 7,400. The “unjustified and arbitrary” method adopted by the Commission had resulted in a minimum pay of only Rs. 7,000.
