Breach in Sutlej following floods

Jalandhar: Several villages of the Lohian sub-division in this district were submerged on Saturday following a breach in the Sutlej due to floods. Army personnel were called in for rescue operation.

A large posse of personnel was deployed for rescue operations. As the rail track was waterlogged, traffic on the Jalandhar-Ferozepur line was disrupted.

As many as 30 persons were rescued from the affected villages, the sources said. Even on the other side of “chitti bein” (rivulet) some villages including Maida, Sajjanwal, Makhi, Sindrur and Khosa were flooded. — PTI
