Second set of traffic modifications in T. Nagar after the flyover was opened on Thursday
CHENNAI: The Traffic Police have announced some more modifications in the vehicular movement in T. Nagar, which will come into effect on Sunday morning. The changes were being made in view of the commissioning of the Usman Road flyover. Under the new arrangements, Burkit Road will be made one-way with entry for vehicles only from Madley Road-Usman Road Junction. Vehicles would not be allowed to enter Burkit Road from Venkatnarayana Road. The stretch of Venkatnarayana Road from the junction of Burkit Road up to Anna Salai would be one-way with vehicles to be allowed only towards Anna Salai. No vehicle would be allowed to enter Venkatnarayana Road from the Anna Salai side. For vehicle coming on Anna Salai from Guindy side, a left turn to Venkatnarayana Road at the Nandanam junction would be prohibited. From Sunday, these vehicles should take left to Nandanam Link Road and join Burkit Road. Two way traffic would continue to be allowed on the stretch of Venkatnarayana Road between Burkit Road junction and Panagal Park. Vehicles from Venkatnarayana Road would be allowed to enter Bashyam Road, near Panagal Park. However, vehicles from Bashyam Road would not be allowed in to Venkatnarayana Road. They have to instead use the new flyover. Only vehicles in between Burkit Road junction and Panagal Park junction on Venkatnarayana Road would use it for two-way movement. Vehicles coming from Anna Salai via CIT 1st Main Road Junction and intending to move towards Panagal Park should proceed via South Usman Road, Burkit Road and Venkatnarayana Road to reach their destination. They may also use the new flyover to go to North Usman Road. South Dhandabani Street (between South Boag Road and Burkit Road) would become one-way. Vehicles would be allowed only from Burkit Road-Dhandabani Street junction. Dhandabani Street (between Burkit Road and Venkatnarayana Road) would be opened for two-way traffic. The portion of South Usman Road would become one-way with entry from Kannammapet Junction (Vembuliamman Koil). The vehicle would be allowed to move only towards Madley Road Junction and beyond.
