He was travelling in an MTC bus from Tambaram to Adyar TAMBARAM: Residents of Sholingallur protested on the road linking Rajiv Gandhi Salai and East Coast Road following the death of a 40-year-old man on Sunday evening. S. Vijayan of Ponni Amman Koil Street was travelling on a C 51 Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus from Tambaram to Adyar. While the bus was crossing Sholinganallur, Vijayan, reported to be travelling on footboard, was hit by an iron projection at the site of a Toll Plaza under construction. He fell on the road and died instantly. As information reached the police, they came to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. As news about the incident spread, a few dozen residents of Sholinganallur gathered at the spot and squatted on the road. Personnel from Thoraipakkam police station pacified them, who dispersed after some time. Traffic was affected for a while around 7.30 p.m. On Grand Southern Trunk in Peerkankaranai, a 34-year-old man died on the spot when his motorcycle hit a lorry on Saturday evening. A. Sarjan, a money-lender hailing from Kanyakumari district, was living in Irumbuliyur. He had gone to Urapakkam and was returning to Tambaram.
