New Maharashtra Congress chief meets Sonia

NEW DELHI: A day after his appointment, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee chief Manikrao Thakre met party president Sonia Gandhi here on Monday.

Speaking to journalists, he said his effort would be to carry along Revenue Minister Narayan Rane to bring about unity in the party.

Emphasising the need for unity ahead of elections, he said he would visit various districts to resolve differences within the party.

According to him, the resignation of Mr. Rane did not figure in his talks with Ms. Gandhi.
