Krishna, Nikhat bag titles

HYDERABAD: Krishna Kiriti of Postal Club and Nikhat Banu of Gujarati Seva Mandal won the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively in the second Darga Pentappa memorial state-level table tennis championship here.

The results (finals): Men: Krishna Kiriti bt T. Arundhar 11-3, 11-8, 11-9, 8-11, 11-3. Veterans: 40 years & above: M. Hemant Kumar bt Md. Yousuf 11-5, 12-10, 11-8; 60 years & above: S.P. Jagannath Prasad bt D. Devender 11-5, 11-8, 9-11, 10-12, 11-9. Boys: Cadets: D. Rahul bt Anindhya Reddy 11-3, 11-8, 11-5.

No sweat for SCR

South Central Railway defeated AP Police 6-2 in the A-1 division hockey league championship at Begumpet Police Stadium here.

K.K. Bharath score three and Mayank James, Hardeep Singh, Md. Aleem struck one each for SCR.

For the loser, Suri Babu and Suresh reduced the margin.

In another match, SAAP Academy (Nalgonda) recorded a 4-1 win over Income Tax. Ramesh (2), Rambabu and Y. Sagar slotted for SAAP while Deepak scored IT’s lone goal.
