NEW DELHI: The High Court has dismissed a petition by Northern Railway challenging a judgment by Central Administrative Tribunal ordering reinstatement of a ticket booking clerk. The Disciplinary Authority of Northern Railway had ordered compulsory retirement of the clerk, holding him guilty of shortage of Rs.83 in the cash amount collected from passengers and later submitted to the office on a particular date and keeping an undeclared excess amount in cash in his possession in 2004.Booking clerk Mohan Lal had challenged the Disciplinary Authority’s judgment before the Tribunal. The Tribunal in its order in March this year had quashed the Disciplinary Authority’s judgment and directed it to take back the compulsorily retired clerk in service with all consequential benefits except back wages. A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice J. R. Midha upheld the Tribunal’s judgment. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
