Ajay Bharadwaj enters last eight in table tennis

Chennai: Ajay Bharadwaj got the better of B.S. Kaushik 11-2, 12-10, 9-11, 6-11, 14-12 to make it to the table tennis quarterfinals of the Bertram tournaments at the Loyola College, here on Monday.

Mitchell shines

Mitchell’s 56 runs helped Kanniah CA defeat Little Hearts CA by four wickets in the Little Hearts under-14 league cricket tournament.

The scores: U-14: Little Hearts CA 123 for five in 30 overs (U. Vishal 50, Kaushik U. Ram 31) lost to Kanniah CA 126 for six in 28.1 overs (Mitchell 56, M. Arunan three for 11). Vijay defeats Gaurav

Vijay (M2000) beat Gaurav (GSS) 66-47, 20-60, 40-35 in the MUC non-medallist snooker tournament here.

District-I posts win

District-I and District-III were declared winners after securing first innings leads over District-IV and District-II respectively on the final day of the two-day TNCA pre-round-robin under-19 cricket tournament for districts.

Off-spinner V. Hari Prasad was the standout performer for District-I, with six wickets for 42 runs in the first innings.

Basketball tournament

The Dharmamurthi Rao Bahadur Calavala Cunnan Chetty’s Hindu College will conduct the Cunnan Memorial State-level inter-Collegiate basketball tournament from August 20 to 22.

Jayashankar Menon, former Indian basketball captain, will be the chief guest.
