Six thousand four hundred and fifty candidates took their degrees at the two day annual convocation of the Madras University held at the Senate House, Chepauk on August 19 and 20. Out of these, nearly 1,100 were women. It is stated that this is a record number for candidates receiving degrees at a convocation. Dr. A. Lakshmanaswami Mudaliar, Vice Chancellor, presided on the second day.
