St. Ephreme’s wins

Kottayam: Last year’s runner-up St. Ephreme’s (Mannanam) won the title in the boys’ section of the fifth Lourdaean Trophy all-Kerala inter-school basketball tournament here on Monday.

In the final, St. Ephreme’s defeated St. Thomas HSS (Kozhenchery) 72-41 after leading 28-18 at the half-time. Twins Chandu Das (16) and Nandu Das (14) did the bulk of scoring for the winner.

The result: Boys (final): St. Ephreme’s (Mannanam) 72 (Nandu Das 16, Aby Sony 14, Chandu Das 14, Roby Thomas 13) bt St. Thomas HSS (Kozhenchery) 41 (Jomon Jose 10, Arin Alexander 10).
