Two titles for St. Joseph’s

Chennai: St. Joseph’s College of Engineering won both the men and women titles in the Anna University inter-zone badminton championships held at the Kumaraguru College of Engineering from August 15 to 17.

The results: (semifinals): St. Joseph’s beat Kumaraguru College 3-0 (Aditya Elango beat Navin Prasad 20-22, 21-11, 21-14; Aloysius Vijay beat Imtiaz 21-8, 21-12; Vijay Anand and Aloysius beat Vinotharan and Aravind 21-7, 21-7).

Final: St. Joseph’s beat PSNA College of Engineering, Dindigul 3-0 (Aloysius Vijay beat Sunil 21-12, 21-6; Subkishan Vallaban beat Rajkumar 21-12, 21-6; Vijay Anand and Aloysius beat Ishanth and Rajkumar 21-7, 21-11).

Women: Semifinals: St. Joseph’s beat Sona College, Salem 2-0 (Priya beat Janani 21-7, 21-4; Priya and Parkavi beat Janani and Gayathri 21-6, 21-8).

Final: St. Joseph’s beat Ramakrishna Engineering, Coimbatore 2-0 (Priya beat Lakshmi Priya 21-10, 21-13; Priya and Parkavi beat Rama Praba and Lakshmi Priya 21-10, 21-11).
