Special Correspondent

MUMBAI: Clariant Chemicals (India) has reported a net profit of Rs. 26.80 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008, against Rs. 14.60 crore in the corresponding period in the previous year, an increase of 83 per cent.

Net sales were higher at Rs. 261.80 crore against Rs. 231.70 crore.

Proactive measures

“The increase in operating profit is attributed to the various proactive measures initiated by the company to combat the rising cost of inputs, such as the ability to pass on price increases, optimisation of costs, lean organisation structures and the like,” the company said in a release. Sales for the six months ended June 30, 2008, rose to Rs. 466.10 crore from Rs. 435.30 crore in the year-ago period, while the net profit has risen to Rs. 41.70 crore from Rs. 29 crore.
