Pre-quarterfinals of Durand Cup

NEW DELHI: “We are trying our best. Please give good coverage and encourage football,” pleaded Lt. Col Joginder Singh as he announced the launch of the main draw of the Durand Cup football tournament here.

The 121st edition of the Osian-sponsored tournament will be without any of the Kolkata clubsThe pre-quarterfinals will commence on Thursday with eight teams involved in the league. The tournament carries an increased total prize money of Rs 20 lakh. The winner will receive Rs 8 lakh and the runner-up Rs 6 lakh. — Special Correspondent
