ADILABAD: The strike by public sector, Central and State Government employees and workers and trade unions on Wednesday was a complete success in Adilabad even at mandal levels. Work in government offices and banking was totally paralysed as thousands of employees and workers under the aegis of a struggle committee struck work. In Adilabad district head quarters a mammoth rally was taken out by employees and workers in which 32 unions and associations participated. Joint Action Committee chairman M. Rajeshwar Reddy said the strike was in protest against the government’s anti-worker policies like outsourcing and contributory pension scheme. The other demands included removal of anomalies in the pay revision commission for Central employees. At the SBH Regional office, bankers under the banner of Adilabad District Bank Employees Coordination Committee staged demonstrations. Committee secretary M. Vijender led the protest against merger.

Standstill

Nizamabad Staff Reporter adds: Work at all government offices and banks came to a standstill following the general strike by government employees and banking staff on Wednesday. The strike was total and peaceful.

Government employees, workers and teachers under the aegis of the Struggle Committee for Joint Action Committee observed the strike by gathering in large number before the offices since morning and ensure that the strike was successful. They later in a procession reached the public meeting venue.

Except Congress all political parties and trade unions expressed their solidarity to the strike. The banking staff staged protest demonstration in front of the State Bank of India main branch.

Presiding over the meeting the JAC Struggle Committee convenor Gaini Gangaram, alleged that the State and Cental governments have been adopting anti-employee, worker and teacher policies. It was injustice to constitute 9th Pay Revision Commission without correcting anomalies in 8th PRC, he said. Demanding the government announce the Interim Relief immediately in view of the sky-rocketing prices of all commodities, he said if the government failed to respond the employees and trade unions would refuse the commission.

Poor response

Karimnagar Staff Reporter adds: One-day general strike called by the several employees and workers unions demanding a charter of demands has evoked poor response in Karimnagar district on Wednesday. The employees and workers attended to their duties at the prestigious NTPC, Ramagundam by wearing black badges and generated power. The APSRTC had also operated its services on all routes in the district. There was poor response to the strike call at the Singareni Collieries Company limited in the Ramagundam coal belt region.

In Karimnagar town, the strike was complete at the Collectorate complex, which houses offices of various departments, with all employees abstaining to their duties. However, the banks, post offices and other central agencies remained closed.

Rally

Warangal Staff Reporter adds: The government offices witness low activity and the transportation was affected due to the general strike by the employees of various government agencies in the district.

In a rally that was taken out in the district headquarters, the NGOs, revenues, APSRTC, bank employees and others took part raising slogans against anti-employee policies of the government.
