Fire accident victim approaches HRC

Hyderabad: A victim of fire accident V. Laxman Kumar, has approached the State Human Rights Commission to seek monetary help for treatment. Kumar met with an accident while working in Inogent Laboratories, a GVK Bio company, in February last. He was immediately admitted to the Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad, by the management. Kumar suffered 40 per cent burns and his left eye had to be removed due to severe infection.

After the accident, he was paid salary up to November 2007 and treatment was taken care of up to January. Thereafter, the company refused to pay any compensation. A resident of Nelakonda Palli of Khammam district, Kumar says he was still undergoing treatment at great personal cost.
