TIRUPATI: Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam Vice-Chancellor Sarojamma is said to have taken the controversial issue of the former Vice-Chancellor Veena Noble Das’ alleged ‘self-declaration’ as the ‘Dean’ of the university’s up-coming engineering college to the notice of the State Council of Higher Education, besides seeking explanation from from her on her ‘arbitrary action’. The issue is expected to figure prominently at the ensuing meeting of the university’s Executive Committee. ABVP stages dharna The ABVP cadres on Wednesday held a dharna in front of the office of university’s Vice-Chancellor protesting against the ‘highly objectionable’ action of the former Vice-Chancellor which showed the ‘scant respect’ for the authority of the university, its Executive Council and the established administrative procedures. Reports said that Prof. Noble Das had resorted to the ‘self declaration’ on the ground that there was no response from the university’s Vice-Chancellor to her request to make her the Dean of the engineering College which she claimed was her ‘brain-child’. Government blamedThe ABVP, in a statement, questioned the audacity of the former Vice-Chancellor and attributed it to the government’s inaction in the past towards her various acts of alleged commission and omission.
