Digvijay Singh keeps lead

Coimbatore: Digvijay Singh mastered the wind like a professional and established a three-stroke lead for a place atop the leader board for the second day in the PGTI Players’ Championship at the par-72 Coimbatore Golf Club course in Chettipalayam, near here, on Thursday.

While a few struggled to tame the gusty winds, Digvijay used it to his advantage to record a three under 69 and a total of seven under 137 at the halfway mark.

Rahul Ganapathy proved his class as well with a 69 today. And, that saw him share the second spot with Vijay Kumar at four under 140. The cut was applied at 12 over 156, and 54 professionals and one amateur made the grade.

Sri Lankan B.G. Lalith Kumara (72, 72) and Bangalore’s C. Muniyappa (73, 71) are tied fourth at even par 144. Harendra Gupta (72, 73) is tied sixth at one over 145 while Mukesh Kumar (73, 76) is tied 17th at five over 149.

Coimbatore’s Vignesh Ranga Rao (78, 78) was the only amateur who managed to make the cut. He is tied 48th at 12 over 156. Local professional Joseph Chakola (82, 83) missed the cut as he tallied 21 over 165. — Sports Reporter
