Reverberates with students’ skills, zeal

CHENNAI: For high school students, nothing could be more prestigious than winning at inter-school cultural contests.

Every time the name of a school is mentioned, the venue is filled with loud cheers and instant excitement.

The valedictory of ‘Reverberations,’ the inter-school competition hosted by Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan schools was no exception.

Students from nearly 25 schools participated in the two-day event which concluded here on Thursday.

Speaking at the valedictory, music director Harris Jayaraj said he was very glad to be part of the programme. “I come here not just as the chief guest, but also as a proud parent,” he said.

Commending students for their enthusiastic participation, he said it was “a very exciting” event for school students.

Playback singer Chinmayi, who was the guest of honour, said it was very humbling to be part of such a function with so many students.

She thanked the organisers for having invited her.

Mrs. Y.G. Parthasarathy, dean and director of the Padma Seshadri group of schools, commended students who had organised the function andtheir good work.

Cultural events like these gave students, who are otherwise busy with classes and examinations, to let their hair down and relax, she said.

She said music directors such as Mr. Jayaraj did the State proud through their music.

Mrs. Y.G. Parthasarathy requested him to compose more melodies as it was in the hands of young music directors like him to give good music to listeners.
