More trains sought

Thiruvananthapuram: Devaswom Minister G. Sudhakaran has urged the Centre to run special train services from New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and other centres to the State coinciding with the Mandala Puja festival of the Sabarimala temple. He also demanded that a special ticket counter be opened at Pampa for the benefit of pilgrims and an increase in counters and resting facilities at the Kottayam, Chengannur, Changanassery and Kollam railway stations. The special trains should be extended to Kollam or Kochu Veli and the number of bogies in the existing trains should be increased. He urged the BSNL to make special arrangements for the benefit of the pilgrims. He sought the cooperation of Union Ministers A.K. Antony and Vayalar Ravi and the Chief Ministers and Devaswom and Transport Ministers of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. —Special Correspondent
