Whip cracked on 11 persons

Staff Reporter

They are accused of indulging in irregularities in SSA programme

Kakinada: Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi cracked the whip on 11 officers/staff of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) for their alleged complicity in large-scale irregularities that surfaced recently.

Six of them were repatriated to the parent departments, two suspended and the remaining three, who were outsourced, terminated, said Kakinada RDO and SSA in-charge additional coordinator G.C. Kishore Kumar.

Announcing this in a press conference on Friday, Mr. Kumar said some of the staff were on deputation for the last five years in clear violation of norms and two others had no sanctioned posts but played “key roles” in implementing the SSA in apparent collusion with higher official(s). The staff members allegedly resorted to corruption in different forms and enjoyed pecuniary benefits that accrued to them. Inquiry officer P. Ramakrishna Murthy would bring more facts to light in the due course, he added.

Repatriated

Those repatriated to the parent departments were: alternative schooling coordinator A. Emmanuel, child development officer S. Vijayalakshmi Devi, assistant academic monitoring officer K. Appa Rao, senior assistant V.S.N. Murthy and junior assistants B.S.N.K.D. Subhadra and V.V. Ramani.

The outsourced staff who were terminated were: technical consultant P. Satyanarayana and V. Ratnam Raju and Ch. Siva Ramakrishna, who had no specific posts.

Community mobilisation officer K. Satyanarayana and technical assistant K. Venkateswara Rao were the ones placed under suspension.
