Gastroenteritis claims one

KRISHNAGIRI: A woman died and more than 10 persons were hospitalised following a suspected gastroenteritis outbreak in a village near here on Friday.

Sources said Pattammal (22) of Veppenampaali, who developed symptoms of vomiting and dysentery, died. More than 10 persons with similar symptoms were admitted to the Krishnagiri Government Hospital and Veppenampalli Primary Health Centre. Three medical teams were deputed to screen the residents. Water contamination was stated to be reason for the outbreak.
