KOCHI: Ajay Jayakumar’s stunning all-round performance (54 and three wickets for no runs in four overs) helped Ernakulam to a comfortable position on the opening day of its two-dayer against Thrissur in the Central Zone under-22 inter-district cricket championship at the St Paul’s College Ground here on Friday. In another match, Palakkad, after making 231 with fine contributions from Ramesh and Rejish, had Idukki in deep trouble at 66 for six at the BPCL Kochi Refinery Oval. The scores: Ernakulam 202 for nine in 70 overs (Ajay Jayakumar 54, Manu Krishnan 50, Anthaf four for 47) v Thrissur 17 for three (Ajay Jayakumar three for 0) at St. Paul’s College Ground, Kalamassery.
