Uday, Mayank hit centuries

BANGALORE: Punjab Cricket Association XI batted to a strong position, scoring 453 for nine in 100 overs on the first day of its match against ONGC XI in the KSCA all-India invitation cricket tournament at KSCA (turf) grounds here on Friday.

Flaying a listless ONGC attack, Uday Kaul (129, 222b, 7x4) and Mayank Sidana (129, 141b, 15x4, 1x6) put on 222 runs in their fifth-wicket stand.

In another match, Amit Verma’s century (106, 154b, 17x4) and his fifth-wicket partnership of 109 runs with B. Akhil (47), besides an unbeaten 74 by in-form wicket-keeper-batsman V.S. Thilak Naidu, helped KSCA XI post 363 for seven at close against Kerala CA XI. The match has been reduced to 92 overs-a-side due to overnight rain.

Meanwhile, KSCA President’s XI made 42 for two in reply to Dr. D.Y. Patil Academy’s 206.

The scores:

Punjab CA 453 for nine in 100 overs (Pankaj Dharmani 56, Uday Kaul 129, Mayank Sidana 129) vs ONGC.

KSCA XI 363 for seven in 85 overs (K.B. Pawan 54, D. Amit Verma 106, B. Akhil 45, V.S. Thilak Naidu 74 n.o.) vs Kerala CA.

Dr. D.Y. Patil Cricket Academy 206 in 70.4 overs vs KSCA President’s XI 42 for two in 10 overs.
