VIZIANAGARAM: District Gram Sevaks’ Association president A.Ch. Maraiah and secretary K. Sankara Rao have said that the association will organise a ‘jeep jatha’ from August 28 to 31 to enlighten gram sevaks on their problems in each mandal and prepare them for the Chalo Assembly on September 5. At a press conference on Sunday, Mr. Maraiah said that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, prior to Assembly elections in 2004, had promised that the gram sevaks would be treated on par with Class-IV staff and effect minimum wages. But his promise remained unfulfilled. The association had been demanding Rs.3,600 as minimum wages and filling of vacant posts besides PRC wages for them. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
