Chiranjeevi fan succumbs to burns

VISAKHAPATNAM: One of the seven persons injured when crackers exploded while being taken for a rally to mark actor Chiranjeevi’s entry into politics succumbed to the burns at a private hospital here on Sunday.

The youth was identified as Manikantha, an ITI student of Rambilli mandal.

The explosion occurred on August 17 when crackers were being taken to Elamanchili by an autorickshaw resulting in injuries to all those travelling by it. According to Satish of Chiranjeevi Blood Bank, the families (of the victims) would be helped.

‘Minor raped’

An eight-year-old girl was raped allegedly by a 19-year-old youth at Adarshnagar. The Three Town Police said the girl, going to school, was lured by the youth two days ago to his house where she was raped. The youth was identified as A. Ganesh. The girl was taken to a private hospital for treatment. Subsequently, she was taken to the KGH where doctors confirmed that it was a rape. Circle Inspector Ranga Raju is investigating under the supervision of ACP Konda Reddy.
