WITH GRIEVANCES: A group of old women who submitted a petition to the Tirunelveli District Revenue Officer G. Sreenivasan seeking old age pension, on Monday. TIRUNELVELI: A group of old women from Maanur panchayat union submitted petitions to District Revenue Officer G. Srinivasan on Monday seeking monthly old age pension. The petitioners from various villages under Maanur union said that though they had submitted petitions to the revenue officials on several occasions seeking old age pension, their applications were rejected without valid reasons. “Hence we came to the Collectorate to submit petitions directly to the Collector,” they said. Receiving the petitions, Mr. Srinivasan assured them that he would look into their appeal immediately. Another group of conservancy workers from Manakaavalanpillai Nagar near Palayamkottai, who lost their dwellings in a recent fire accident, submitted petitions to Mr. Srinivasan seeking free house site pattas. Villagers of North Idaiyankulam and Aaththiyaankulamm under Ulagankulam village panchayat in Cheranmahadevi union, who wanted to have an anganvadi in their area, submitted petition. They also sought a transformer in their area to cater to the needs of Sadaiyappapuram, Ulagankulam and Idaiyankulam to mitigate perennial power fluctuation problem. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
