India for Lankan rugby event

Chennai: India is one of ten countries to confirm participation in the Singer-Sri Lankan Airlines Rugby Sevens event to be held at the Nittawela Stadium in Kandy from September 5 to 7.

Sri Lanka, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, China, Thailand, Singapore, Kazakhstan and Malaysia are among the other countries participating. The absence of the event’s traditional powerhouses Japan and Hong Kong has meant that this year’s field is an open one.

Apart from the international event, the tournament also features a schools event featuring 12 colleges from Sri Lanka. — Sports Reporter
