No truck with those aligning with Congress, BJP: CPI

SALEM: As Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have been adopting identical approach when it comes to anti-people policies of globalisation, it has become an inherent necessity for the Left not only to form an alternative alliance but also to sever ties with those aligning with them.

The decision to this effect was taken at the State General Council meeting of the Tamil Nadu unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI), which concluded at Hosur in Krishnagiri district on Monday. The council observed that based on these principles, the CPI had decided not to have any electoral alliances with the parties that align with either Congress or BJP. “To crystallise this endeavour, the CPI and CPI(M) will undertake joint efforts for a new alliance primarily to safeguard the welfare of the people and to preserve the sovereignty of the nation,” it further noted.

The party would mobilise forces against the failure of the government in solving crucial issues such as price rise, inflation, industrial crisis and power cuts. The state council said that the increasing inflation had triggered off a steep rise in prices.
