Wide variety: Customers at a handloom and handicrafts exhibition-cum-sale in Bangalore on Tuesday. BANGALORE: From Molakalmuru silk saris in over 20 varieties to Thewa jewellery from Rajasthan, the handloom and handicrafts exhibition-cum-sale organised by the Centre for Industrial Cooperative of Producer’s and Artisans (CICOPA) has a variety of products to suit the taste and budget of every customer. The two-day exhibition also has a variety of dress materials, bangles, antique necklaces and cotton handbags. Other attractions include products made of coconut shell such as wine glasses and ice cream bowls; mats made of screwpine; and bamboo products such as baskets, cushion covers, trays and mobile phone holders. One can also find different kinds of ready-made “rangolis” made of plastic, glass and other material. Another attraction is the floating rangoli. The exhibition, which is being held on the Cooperative Training College premises in Padmanabhanagar, is open between 10.30 a.m. and 8 p.m. There is a rebate of 10 to 15 per cent on handlooms. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
