alluring: Customers at a silk sari exhibition in Bangalore on Tuesday. BANGALORE: The season of festivals and weddings is upon us and there is a plethora of designs on offer. Ten new sari designs were launched on Tuesday at a silk sari exhibition by the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Ltd. at IAS Officers’ Association Hall on Infantry Road. From Mysore silk saris to crepe, a whole range of saris priced between Rs. 4,000 to 1.5 lakh are on display here. . There is a discount of 20 to 30 per cent. The seven-day exhibition was inaugurated by actor Sudha Rani. The inaugural day also saw prizes being distributed to the winners of the Environmental Day quiz conducted by the corporation for school students. Managing Director of KSIC, B. Vijayan, gave away the prizes. Cash prizes of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000, and Rs. 1,000 were presented along with certificates to the winners.The exhibition is open between 10.30 a.m. to 8 p.m till Friday. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
