Army XI advances

NEW DELHI: Army XI defeated New Delhi Heroes 2-1 to enter the quarterfinal league of the 121st Osian’s Durand Cup tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday.

Gordon (66th minute) and M.G. Ramachandran (80th) scored for the winner after New Delhi Heroes’ has taken the lead through Manish Khatri in the 36th minute.

In an inconsequential match, Assam Rifles beat ASC Centre, Bangalore. The goals came through Meikengai Kumai, Akum Ao and Santa Singh. — Special Correspondent
