MACHILIPATNAM: Krishna district Collector Shailaja Ramaiyer on Tuesday asked students eligible for scholarships to apply online for the first phase of distribution of scholarships in Krishna district. At a meeting attended by officials of the Social Welfare Department and bankers at the Collector’s office here, Ms. Ramaiyer reviewed the progress achieved on this count. She said the fresh batch of post-metric beneficiaries from the SC, ST, BC and physically challenged categories must apply online between August 27 and September 2. Explaining about the mode of online application, she pointed out that model application forms had already been issued to the beneficiaries. Though the old pattern of scholarship distribution would be adopted for renewal process, she suggested that the beneficiaries also apply online. The scholarships would be distributed to the beneficiaries drawn from 409 colleges in the district by five national banks identified as nodal banks. The State Bank of India would disburse scholarships to students of 135 colleges, the State Bank of Hyderabad to 34 colleges, the Andhra Bank to 125 colleges, the Indian Bank to 67 colleges and the Syndicate Bank to 48 colleges. She wanted the officials concerned to make adequate arrangement to make the scholarship distribution process a smooth exercise. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
