NEW DELHI: To honour wrestler Sushil Kumar who won the bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics and is also a former student of a Municipal Corporation of Delhi-run primary school, the civic body has decided to name a major road in its area after him. Acting Mayor and Sports Promotion Committee chairman Divya Jaiswal said : “By winning the bronze medal, Sushil Kumar has become a matter of pride and emulation for students of municipal primary schools. He was a student of the MCD primary school at Baprola in Najafgarh zone. To inspire the next generation to take lessons from him, a major road of the MCD would be named as Wrestler Sushil Kumar Road.” “Gold medallist Abhinav Bindra, bronze medallist Vijender Kumar and Sushil Kumar would be introduced to the students studying in municipal primary schools and a public function would be organised by the MCD to accord a civic reception to them. Students of municipal primary schools would be specially invited to the function,” he added.
