Techno Enclave picture of dismay

HYDERABAD: Just a few paces away from city’s most modern edifice that won laurels globally, is a piece of land that remains steeped in apathy.

In the shadows of Cyber Tower, the HUDA Techno Enclave at Madhapur has all the trappings of underdevelopment except for the fact that it is a priced slice of property.

Though a series of high rises have dotted the surroundings to accommodate most hi-tech software institutions, it is a dismaying sight for those possessing the institutional and commercial plots at the Sector I here. There are no roads and a muddy track has to be traversed to reach different plots, some of which are in the process of acquiring tall constructions.

Such is the shape of the enclave that even the main entrance has gone inaccessible after the road in front of it has been dug up and sewer flows through. While one cannot motor down, even to walk down, a small wooden plank placed here has to be used. And those insisting on driving down, a detour has to be taken to enter the sector.

The internal stretches are potholed and rains turn them into muddy pools. Mosquitoes swarm on them and there is no corner that could be seen as a representation of sanitation. “It has been a decade since we took a plot here and there has been no effort to develop this place,” laments a plot owner.

The drain system has been put in place recently but there are no streetlights. The site earmarked for amenities has few huts while the corner meant for park has neglect written all over. “Except for ensuring that the title is clear, the HUDA has not done anything here all these years. It is yet to be handed over to the municipality to ensure that development takes place,” the plot owner says.

And the best thing, as he points out, happens to be the HUDA amenities/office site. Though a painted proclamation informs that the plot belongs to the authority, there is a Tiffin centre operating from here!
