LUCKNOW: No headway has been made in the probe into Sunday’s blast, in which two alleged Bajrang Dal activists were blown apart while making bombs in a lodge at Rajiv Nagar in Kanpur.

The recovery of eight kg of explosive powder, two grenade shells and a map of Firozabad district stuffed in a gunny bag from the Double Puliya canal at Vijaynagar on Tuesday is seen to be linked to Sunday’s incident. The recovery was made at a spot about 200 metres from the house of one of the victims, Bhupinder Singh. S.N. Singh, Inspector-General, Kanpur Zone, said on Wednesday that efforts were being made to crack the case with the help of the Anti-Terrorist Squad. He said the people of the locality were not cooperating with the police. “As of now, it is just a wild guess that explosions were allegedly planned in Kanpur to cause communal riots,” the IG told The Hindu.
